July 11, 2016 | admin | 4 Comments El Tuito, founded in 1844, commonly called “Tuito”, is a small colonial farming town. It has a population of about 3,500. It’s at 2,624 ft or 800 mts above sea level with cobble stone streets, It’s located 34 mi or 55 klm south of PV, just 1 hour by car or 1.5 hrs. by bus from Old PV. The average temperature is 78 F or 25 C. It’s famous for its seasonal peyote mushrooms ,nearby hot springs & is located one hour from Mayto’s virgin 6 mile beach, turtle reserve and oyster beds. The buses to Tuito are located 5 blocks inland from the Malecon, in Old PV, at Carranza & Aguacate Aves. They leave daily on the hour from 7 am to 9 pm & costs 35 pesos, one way & return from Tuito on the half hour till 9 pm.Tel. 322-269-0473 The same bus goes to the Botanical Gardens for 30 Pesos. It’s typical colonial atmosphere with inside & sidewalk tables ,makes a perfect stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The friendly owner, Hector Javier Perez. loves to practice his English. It’s inner courtyard with tropical vegetation & birds singing makes it a tranquil place for any meal. Open daily 8:30 am- 5 pm.
