May 20, 2016 | admin | Leave a comment Chacala, discovered in 1524 ,is one of our favorite “off the beaten track” beach towns. It’s located about 65 mi or 104 klm north of PV, just before San Blas, about 2 hours by car & 3 hours by bus. You have to turn left from the main road ,it’s then a 6 mi or 9 klm, drive, hitch or taxi, to reach Chacala. We suggest you stay at least 2 nights to really relax and maybe go fishing or snorkeling with the locals. Its 100 yard or 90 mts long beach has a calm surf perfect for swiming . Nearby attractions include: hot springs, extinct volcano & petroglyphs. Make sure it’s not a holiday period. WHERE TO STAY Las Brisas Hotel Posada,is located on the calm beach, surrounded by coconut palm trees. It has 11 rooms that cost about $35 to $60 US per night with breakfast included. They also have a great restaurant serving typical home made Mexican & Internatioal dishes. The sleepy beach town , just 3 blocks long ,is just steps from the hotel. The owner is Piedad Pelayo & her daughter Karla is the manager. They both speak English and treat you like family. The family also has a small hotel called Brissas de Mayto, right on the beach in Mayto. Another great “off the beaten track” place to relax & explore. It’s just 2 hours south by car from Puerto Vallarta, For more details on both hotels visit their website. Piedad & Karla will greet you ! WHERE TO EAT Las Brisas Restaurant is located right on the beach in front of the hotel. It’s a great place to have any meal or watch the sunset. They serve great Mexican food & fresh seafood.Open 8 am-7:30 pm . If you’re having a meal there ,ask Karla Pelayo ,the manger, where can change into your swim suit. Phone #327-219-4015. Watching the sunset is unforgettable !
